The Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences is sponsoring a one-day conference on “The Social Challenge of Wind Energy Projects” on November 9th in Plymouth, MA.
Recognizing that local issues – cultural and political – are often bigger challenges to wind energy projects than technical or financial issues, this conference will “examine efficient and science-based ways to talk about wind energy.
The conference brings together community leaders, developers, conservationists and social outreach experts who have firsthand experience with wind power permitting and development. Panelists will discuss projects that faced significant social challenges and projects that were permitted and built without acrimonious opposition.
