What we initially thought would be a half-day soon became a full day.  Even then we had to set aside topics, perhaps for future events.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.riverbendadvisors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/SIseminarlogo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.riverbendadvisors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/SIseminarlogo-300x103.png\" alt=\"SIseminarlogo\" width=\"300\" height=\"103\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.riverbendadvisors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/SIseminarlogo-300x103.png 300w, https:\/\/www.riverbendadvisors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/SIseminarlogo.png 780w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<b>Sustainable investing <\/b>is clearly entering the mainstream:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over 1,000 asset owners and managers, responsible for $34 trillion in assets worldwide, have signed the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment, making the commitment to incorporate sustainability criteria into their investment decisions.<\/li>\n<li>Over $13 trillion in assets worldwide are now managed with sustainability criteria and strategies.<\/li>\n<li>A 2012 survey of over 1,000 investment advisors found 38% with a strong interest in offering sustainable investments and 47% who have clients currently engaged in sustainable investing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What does this mean for investment professionals and their clients, and why is it important now?  <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Sustainable investing<\/b> incorporates environmental, social and governance considerations into investment decisions to achieve <b>competitive long-term financial returns<\/b> and positive societal impact.
