Sustainability is the challenge of advancing global economic development and increasing standards of living worldwide in ways that do not compromise the ability of future generations to pursue those same goals.

While the reality of finite natural resources has always been a primary concern for sustainability, addressing the problem of global climate change has become the primary, and arguably the most urgent, driver for advancing sustainability.

These pages offer resources, information and ideas on the sustainability challenge and opportunities it presents for investments, investment management, financial planning and new technology-based businesses.

Energy is the dominant theme, but water - and the less-appreciated link between energy and water - must be considered. And while not directly considered here, any exploration of sustainability will touch on sustainability in agriculture, land use, development of the built environment and population.
